Orange juice is a delightful and nutrient-dense beverage (good old O.J.), which is why I keep it on hand at all times.
It does happen that I forget about it (when my mind is elsewhere) and then discover that it has been sitting in the back of my refrigerator for who knows how long (bummer right).
How Long Does Tropicana Orange Juice Last?
After being opened, Tropicana or any other orange juice that has been kept cold will last for about 7 to 10 days. This is also true for orange juice in a bottle or carton that has been chilled.
After doing more investigation, I discovered additional facts that you should be aware of, so please continue reading…

Identifying the Signs That Orange Juice Is Bad
Over time, orange juice, like other juices, loses its nutritional value. When you open the bottle or carton, the procedure becomes a little faster.
Because of this, the beverage will lose its flavor after a few days in the refrigerator, compared to the taste it had shortly after you opened the bottle. After a while, you may find the flavor to be disagreeable, and at that time, you should discard it.
Although the juice is most likely still safe to consume, there is no use in ingesting flavorless orange juice. Now for the telltale symptoms that your orange juice has gone bad.
First and foremost, if the container is bulging or bloated, it indicates that something went wrong during the manufacturing process, and you should discard the juice.

Using a transparent glass, pour some juice into the glass such that you can plainly see the liquid. In the first instance, take a careful look at the liquid to ensure that it is the correct color and that there are no evidence of mold or silt.
The smell test is the second step. If the juice has a sour, vinegar-like smell to it, toss it away immediately. Taste is the next item on our to-do list.
The moment has come to drink a bit of the beverage if everything seems to be working correctly with it up to this point. If it has a bubbly flavor or reminds you of alcohol, throw it out right away. If you think the flavor is acceptable, go ahead and use it.
How Long Does Orange Juice Last in the Refrigerator?
Let’s start with orange juice that hasn’t been refrigerated in the past. This particular variety of orange juice is always pasteurized in order to kill any potentially harmful bacteria.
It normally lasts between one and two years if it is not opened during that time. There is a best-by or best-before date printed on every bottle and carton. In this case, the date represents an estimate of how long the juice will remain fresh.

Of course, this is just a preliminary estimate, and OJ should easily last at least a few more months than this estimate suggests. Within 7 to 10 days of opening the container, you should consume the contents or freeze it completely.
Orange juice sold in the refrigerated department of the supermarket is frequently labeled with an expiration date. Expect the juice to be OK for a few days beyond that date, but don’t hold your breath for miracles.
Once the bottle or carton has been opened, the contents will remain fresh for up to 7 days. When it comes to homemade orange juice, it’s best to eat it on the same day that the oranges are squeezed.
If this is not possible, try to use it or freeze it within two to three days of receiving it. Orange juice that has not been refrigerated is available in the pantry (unopened) Best by three to six months.

How to Keep Orange Juice Fresh
In the same way that there are many kinds of apple or lemon juice accessible on the market, there are several variations of orange juice available…
Furthermore, the storage procedures for each type are quite similar. As a reminder, you should keep unopened orange juice at the same temperature as when it was purchased and place it in the refrigerator after it has been opened.
Let’s start with the most widely available kind, which is orange juice that is served at room temperature. You should store it in a cold, dark location away from heat sources, if possible.
If the product is packaged in a transparent container, avoid direct sunlight as well. Temperature variations, as well as light, have a deleterious impact on the juice.
The pantry is the greatest option, but a cabinet in the kitchen can do as a substitute. Once you’ve opened the container, be sure to keep it well wrapped and in the refrigerator.

Another kind of orange juice is the one that may be found in the refrigerated area. Orange juice from Simply Beverages is an excellent example of this kind of beverage. Simple as it may seem, this kind of food should always be kept refrigerated.
When the container is not in use, ensure sure it is properly sealed as per normal. Last but not least, there’s the freshly squeezed orange juice that you may create at home using fresh oranges.
Fresh orange juice should be stored in the refrigerator, just as the chilled type. If you won’t be able to consume all of your orange juice before it spoils, freezing it is a tried and true method of preserving orange juice.
While freezing the juice may cause some degradation in the quality of the juice, it should be alright if you use it in a beverage. Alternatively, on a hot day, add a cube or two of frozen orange juice into a glass of water for a pleasant treat.
That is why I suggest freezing orange juice in an ice cube tray to preserve its freshness. And one more thing: please don’t stress out if you accidentally leave an unopened bottle or carton of orange juice in a hot vehicle for a few hours; this is very normal.

Particularly if it is the unrefrigerated version that is being offered. Most likely, the juice will be totally OK. If, on the other hand, the bottle has already been opened, you should cut your losses and dump the juice for the sake of safety.
How long Is orange juice good for once opened?
7-10 days. Orange juice kept cold for 7-10 days after opening. Opened orange juice can be frozen to extend its shelf life. To freeze orange juice, pour it in an airtight container with 1/2 inch of headspace.
How long does fresh orange juice last in the freezer?
3-4 months. Properly stored, it will keep its best quality for 3 to 4 months but will be safe much longer. Freshly squeezed orange juice kept frozen at 0° F is safe in the freezer forever.

Unrefrigerated or frozen, pasteurized orange juice can maintain its freshness for up to a year. The manufacturing procedure uses heat to kill any bacteria in the juice, so it’s safe to consume up to a week after opening.
Does unopened Tropicana orange juice need to be refrigerated?
Tropicana chilled juices can go from the store to home without refrigeration, although I recommend refrigerating them at all times. Juice left in the sun for more than a few hours should not be consumed.
What to do with old orange juice?
Make ice cubes from the juice. Add them to smoothies, seltzer, or sangria. The majority of fruity sundae syrups contain cane sugar, but there’s a healthy alternative.
How to tell if orange juice is bad?
It’s safe to drink somewhat darker juice. If the juice smells bad, it’s better to toss it if the color has changed. Last, sip the juice. If the juice tastes sour, don’t drink it.
