This leads us to the question: how to freeze cooked green beans? After doing the research, here’s what I uncovered…
Best Method: Once the beans have cooled, drain and pat them dry (so they don’t get ice crystals in the freezer). Lay them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, separating each bean so they cling together. Freeze for 1 hour.

How do you properly freeze green beans?
Do a quick freeze first:
Arrange beans in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until firm. This initial step ensures that the beans won’t all freeze together in a huge clump…
Then you can pack the frozen beans into resealable bags, containers, or jars. Make sure to compact the beans in, then press out as much air as possible and seal tightly.
It’s smart to label each bag or container with the contents, amount, and date so that you’ll be able to easily find them and keep track of how fresh they are. Finally, you can now place them in the freezer for up to eight months!
Why Beans Require Blanching?
To blanch food, first bring it to a boil in a pot of water, and then instantly plunge it into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process… this is called “blanching.”
The optimal cooking time for green beans is three minutes, as this length of time brings out the beans’ natural color, makes them more soft, and prevents the activation of enzymes that could contribute to browning.

What factors should be considered when selecting green beans for freezing?
FYI: You are going to want to begin with the freshest green beans that you can find…
Even though green beans may be found in shops throughout the whole year, the months of May through October are when they taste their very finest.
Try to find beans that are completely green (with no yellow or brown spots), blemish-free, and have a good level of firmness (not limp, shriveled, or lumpy).

I insist that you hear me out on this one: blanching your green beans before freezing them is absolutely necessary…

2. Cook the green beans in boiling water:
Fill a large pot with water until it is three-quarters full…
FYI: The National Center for Home Food Preservation recommends using 1 gallon of water for every 1 pound of vegetables when blanching them… this is the general rule for blanching.
Put it under high heat and bring it to a boil. While it is coming to a boil, you should prepare a large bowl by adding ice and water to it.
To add the beans to the water that is already boiling, you can either use a spider strainer or a slotted spoon. Cook it for three minutes after it has returned to a boil.
Take them out of the water that is boiling as soon as possible and put them for three minutes in the water that is ice cold. Dry thoroughly after transferring to a clean dish towel that has been placed over a sheet pan.
3. Put the green beans in the fridge:
The beans should be spread out in a single layer on a baking sheet before being placed in the freezer for one hour. Before placing the beans in the freezer bags, you should perform this step to ensure that they have been thoroughly chilled. This will help prevent freezer burn.

4. Freeze the green beans:
Put the beans into freezer bags that are a quart in size. Fill the bag up to roughly three-quarters of its capacity so that you can gently flatten the contents before stacking them in the freezer.
